Imagining Long Beach’s diversity as living pavilions shaped by food, plants, and culture from our city's international community.
Long Beach is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world — and as the 2028 Olympic Games approach, we're imagining what that diversity could look like in living form. A
t this opening evening reception, you'll explore a gallery of poster designs — each one proposing a cultural pavilion tied to a country or bioregion represented in the 2028 Games.
Think a Moroccan courtyard of medicinal herbs, a MesoAmerican seed sanctuary, a Japanese matcha garden, or a Caribbean upcycled food atelier. Each display tells a story about food, place, and people.
Gardens 28 is a community design challenge inviting residents, urban farmers, students, and culture-bearers to envision garden pavilions rooted in the meals, materials, and medicines of the world's nations.
Come meet the designers, taste something delicious, and be part of a conversation about what Long Beach's global food identity could look like in 2028 and beyond.
