Leatherworking: Make Your Own Historical Turn Shoes

Join guest instructor Pete Lazz to create your very own medieval turn shoes! With more than 30 years of experience, Pete owns Vidar Leatherworks, an esteemed local business that brings handcrafted and high-quality leather goods to markets and faires.

This full-day workshop is your chance to craft your own historical footwear by hand, under expert guidance. Your day making shoes will consist of 8-hours guided worktime, with x2 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS CLASS:

• You must be 18+ years of age and capable of operating tools.

• Skills: Because of the special equipment and materials, you MUST have some leather working experience OR extensive garment sewing experience.

• Wear shoes that are easily removed, since you’ll need access to your feet!

• Part of patterning your shoes will involve stepping onto a raised platform.

NOTE: You will be using tools and working with your hands in a shop environment. Choose clothing that you can move in and won’t mind getting a little messy, dress in layers for comfort, and be ready to tie back long hair. You must follow all instructions regarding safety and the use of equipment that belongs to Spark Creatives and/or your instructor.
