Troy Hike: Stage Nature Center...3 Miles
Details
Meet in front of the Nature Center. Come early or stay late to look around inside. Large outside mini zoo of owls, hawks, and eagles as well.
Stage Nature Center is a free, 100-acre nature preserve at 6685 Coolidge Highway in Troy, just south of South Boulevard. Its four trails wind through shaded woods, open meadows, and marshlands near the headwaters of the Rouge River. Wood-chip paths and wooden boardwalks offer a scenic setting for a relaxed hike, with opportunities to see deer, wild turkeys, and songbirds.
The grounds also feature a nature center, a native-plant garden, picnic tables, and a marsh observation tower. Admission and parking are free, and the trails are open every day from dawn to dusk, even when the building is closed. The partially paved Sugar Maple Loop offers a shorter, accessible walk, while the other trails let visitors explore more of the preserve. Restrooms are available during building hours; pets are not permitted on the trails.
