In their own words, “Dekart is a CARTO Alternative for Data Teams”. Don’t worry, I haven’t gone over to the dark side. This is not a sponsored event. When I used Dekart for the first event and mentioned it on LinkedIn the founder Volodymyr Bilonenko got in touch so naturally I invited him to talk to us all. Here we are!

Dekart enables open-source map analytics for BigQuery and Snowflake. You can also connect it to Wherobots and DuckDB as I demonstrated in the last event. You can write SQL then get maps instantly. No data movement, no vendor lock-in. Bringing your compute to the data is an essential data engineering principle, good to have that reinforced in this event.

Keeping up with the times, it is also a Claude skill: https://dekart.xyz/blog/fleet-analytics-with-claude/. Volodymyr will join us online from Berlin to step through all this and:

We have had 18 LinkedIn registrations from all around the world for this event so far, with others from Meetup and Facebook too. Join us tomorrow for a discussion with Volodymyr Bilonenko on:

- SQL vs Python vs Desktop Apps: which one wins for agentic GIS
- Map-in-the-loop: the skill that writes SQL, checks the map and self-corrects
- Claude + DuckDB: GIS analytics with no data warehouse and no vibe coding
- Claude-native GIS: what it means, and how GIS shops' business models may evolve
