Around the World: Embassy Tour

Details

It's May! It's May! Let's travel the world today!

Passport DC is hosting its yearly worldwide embassy tour this Saturday, May 3rd. Enjoy food, drinks, music, dancing, and other cultural activities from across the globe for free! No tickets required.

PLANNING TIPS

Most embassies are open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

  • Many embassies are within walking distance of the Dupont Circle and Van Ness/UDC Metrorail stations.

  • Embassies on International Drive are larger and often have shorter lines than those on Embassy Row.

The following embassies will be hosting tours this year at *(UDC) - Student Center at the University of the District of Columbia, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20008:

Burkina Faso
Madagascar
Malawi
Maldives
Mozambique
Nepal
The Gambia
Uganda

HOW TO FIND US

We're meeting outside at the West Side of Connecticut Avenue & Veazy St. exit of the Van Ness Metro Stop. Van Ness is located on the Red Line. The meeting time is 9:30 AM.

I am a white woman with long curly dark hair who wears glasses. I will carry a blue backpack. If you have trouble finding us, please call or text me at 202-802-3238.

From that exit, it's a 2-minute walk to UDC. It's a block away southeast on Connecticut Avenue NW.

You can view a map of the embassies here:

HEALTH & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

There's lots of walking, standing in line, and stair climbing at this event. It will be extremely crowded. If you have mobility issues, balance issues, or get easily overwhelmed by crowds, you may not have a good time at this event.

Summer's coming, so it may get hot and humid. Plan accordingly. If you are prone to dehydration or overheating, you may wish to sit this one out.

Wear sunscreen if you're prone to sunburn. Bring water, as it may be hot. Dress in comfortable clothes and shoes, since there will be lots of walking.

If the forecast calls for heavy rain/thunderstorms on Saturday, I'm canceling the event the night before.

COVID

I'll take a COVID test Saturday morning and post the results here. If I'm sick or test positive, I will stay home. If I'm well and test negative, I'll be there. The event will still happen unless the weather forecast calls for heavy rain/thunderstorms.

METRO SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS

Weekend Track Work: Metro

Parking is difficult to find and very expensive. Driving is not recommended. Metro is much easier and more affordable.

See you soon,

Jenny
