Cellphone: Unseen Connections

Details

Can't put your phone down? At this event, you don't have to! 📱

Come see the exhibit Cellphone: Unseen Connections at the Natural History Museum this Sunday, June 1st. It’s almost impossible to capture in a single word the dramatic influence cellphones have had on human life. But many of us haven’t considered the ways our cellphones connect us to the natural world, and to an unseen global network of people, labor, and infrastructure.

Through more than 750 objects from around the world, multimedia installations, an interactive group chat, and a graphic novel spanning three gallery walls, explore the unseen personal, cultural, and technological connections your cellphone makes easier.

Museum Address

The museum is located on Madison Dr. NW, between 9th St NW and 12 St NW.

Where to Eat and Shop for Souvenirs

The Atrium Café is open from 11:30am-3:30pm and the Ocean Terrace Café is open 11:30am-4:00pm. The Family Store, Gallery Store, and Gems and Minerals Store are open from 10am-5:30pm.

When and Where to Meet

We're meeting at noon at the 10th St. & Constitution Ave. NW entrance of the museum.

How to Get There

Taking the Metro or a rideshare is highly recommended. Driving in DC is very difficult and stressful for many of us. Parking is also expensive and hard to find. The closest Metro stops are Archives/Navy Memorial (Green and Yellow Lines), Federal Triangle (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines), and Metro Center (Red, Orange, Silver, and Blue Lines).

I will share service changes to Metro the Friday before the event.

How to Find Us

I am a white woman with long curly brown hair. I wear glasses and carry a walking stick. I will also carry a blue backpack. If you have trouble finding us or are running late, please call or text me at 202-802-3238.

Health & Safety

I will take a COVID test Sunday morning and share the results here. If I am sick or test positive, I will stay home. The event will still happen regardless.

See you soon,

Jenny
