Speculative Futures LDN #08 - Speculative Futures Into The Public

Details
I hope everyone is safe and enjoying a lot of fantastic digital events during lockdown.
We are really excited to have two great speakers that have taken their work from the studio into the public realm to provoke some very intriguing responses. We believe speculative design is taking an imaginative leap to provoke conversations about what really matters to us. That can only work if we put it out into the public realm to provoke discussion with a diverse range of people, beyond design. These guys have both done just that.
Koby Barhad was made famous by his Elvis Mouse artefact he created in 2012 that was covered by the Daily Mail and other mainstream media with an interesting response.
He is a speculative designer, tutor and researcher whose work explores the possible relationships between people, culture, science and technology. Koby is a co founder of 'Radical Norms', Design research Studio in Toronto, Canada. His work spans across cultural, educational and financial bodies, from the Royal Bank of Canada to the Victoria and Albert Museum, UK.

About Speculative Futures
Started in 2015, Speculative Futures is an international community bringing together those interested in using design as a vehicle to explore potential and alternative futures. Our desire is to create a space in which we can come together to create conversation and exchange ideas.
We invite our audience to cast a critical eye over the norms of today, respond to our context and develop a perspective on how things could be.
Welcome to anyone with a curious mind, not only future-thinking professionals (those in speculative and critical design, discursive design, business strategy, strategic foresight, futurism, architecture, writing, cinematography, art, technology, science), our purpose is to connect industries, fields of practice, people… and ideas.
