About us

The only thing to fear is fear itself. Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country. I have a dream. To be neutral is to be complicit. I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat. Give me liberty or give me death!

Maybe you recognize some of these lines from famous speeches, but have you ever actually studied any of those speeches, from start to finish? Do you even know what is inside of them?

Well, if you would like to, then this is the group for you!

This group's aim is to get together twice a month and discuss famous speeches from both history the present, analyzing the rhetoric they use, placing them in a context, and connecting them to our present-day reality. We will be looking at speeches from people who are viewed as heroes, but also from divisive and complicated figures. The more we study, the more we will learn.

Before attending an event, please read the description and make sure that you have familiarized yourself with the speeches we will be discussing therein. We will jump right into conversation, and it will go much more smoothly if everyone is prepared.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!
