BOUND BY BRISTLE: CRAFTING MAGICAL HEARTH & KITCHEN BROOMS WORKSHOP

Details
We are offering 2 workshops: Saturday, July 26th is the whisk broom workshop and Sunday, July 27th is the broom workshop! Facilitator Nam Joti Kaur Khalsa has been a weaver since 2016. While she is primarily trained in traditional Appalachian broom making, Nam Joti has also developed her own unique style over the years. To learn more about her work visit: https://www.broomsandbaskets.com/
Step into the timeless art of broom-making, where tradition meets enchantment. In this immersive workshop, students of all levels—from curious beginners to seasoned broom makers—are invited to create their own handled broom, such as a hearth or kitchen broom.
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you’ll learn (or deepen your practice in) the craft of binding broom corn, shaping elegant curves, and fitting handles with care and intention. Alongside practical skills, we’ll explore the folklore and quiet magic woven into the humble broom—an everyday tool with centuries of spirit and story.
Leave with your own handcrafted broom, ready to sweep, charm, or simply stand as a testament to your craft.
WHAT TO BRING: All materials provided. Bring your hands, your heart, and a bit of wonder! Bring a dish to pass for potluck.
FEE: $125 REGISTER HERE
Lodging is available for travelers or those participating in both workshops. For more information contact: Kelly kelly@spiriticanoelodge.org
