In Person Guided Psychedelic Breathwork Session

Details
We are happy to announce a special In Person Psychedelic Breathwork session at Sacred Space. The event will be from 11am until around 3pm on Sunday August 18th and facilitated by Emily Wells of Wells Therapeutics. There are only 10 spots open for this special event and will fill up quickly!
Psychedelic Breathwork is the use of rapid, controlled breathing, based on the “holotropic” (meaning “moving toward wholeness”) style of breathwork developed by psychiatrists Stan and Christina Grof, to induce a non-ordinary state of consciousness. The Grofs, pioneers in the field of psychedelic psychotherapy, developed holotropic breathwork after LSD became outlawed in the U.S. in 1968. They discovered that deep, meditative, transpersonal states, similar to those experienced through psychedelic medicines, could be achieved through accelerated breathing.
The goal of Psychedelic Breathwork is to help you connect with parts of yourself that you can’t access under normal conditions, and to help alleviate symptoms associated with depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, negative thinking, chronic stress, and avoidance behaviors.
What to expect:
In your session, you will be paired up with another individual. In the first half of the session, one of you will be the “sitter” and the other the “breather”; in the second half, you will switch roles. The sitter will observe the breather and can provide support, but won’t interfere in the breathwork process unless the breather is in distress.
When you are the breather, you will wear an eye mask and recline on your mat. Emily will prompt you to breathe powerfully and evenly to the rhythm of the evocative music that will accompany you. Following your breathwork, you will be invited to draw a mandala to creatively represent the experience of your session. Your mandala may include images of past trauma, spiritual awareness, or joy.
Please bring a yoga mat, eye mask, one or two pillows, a refillable water bottle, and a journal.
