Friday Hike on Appalachian Trail (5.4 miles) Trail Maintenence

I maintain a section of the Appalachian Trail from Rocky Gap to Virginia Rt 630 north of Newport.

Join me on Thursday to help trim some mountain laurel back from the trail.

We will be hiking 5.4 miles from Rocky Gap to Va Rt 630. The first 0.5 miles is steady uphill, followed by some ridge walking, nice views. Then we descend to a shelter where we will eat lunch. Beyond the shelter are some mild ups and downs until we reach the end.

Bring a lunch, water, and if you have loppers, or other clipping devices, feel free to bring them. Otherwise, I will loan you the gear. Wear your hiking boots.
