Ancient texts of India speak of individual spiritual liberation in the same breath as they speak of devotional service to humanity. Indigenous teachings view the spiritual advancement of the individual and the community as intricately intertwined. During this special evening, we will use chanting and kirtan to nurture our sense of inner harmony and spiritual attunement as we simultaneously create ceremony for peace, justice and care for our planet. The evening will be a synthesis of teachings from the east and west, the healing sounds of the harmonium and original songs based on India’s sacred texts in Sanskrit and English. The session will be prayerful, deeply meditative and nurturing for the soul.

Rick Cotroneo, caretaker of the House of Mica Peace Chamber in New York and the Little Mesa Peace Chamber in Abiquiu will guide the session. He has spent a lifetime focusing on the synthesis of social action and spiritual awakening. Rick has been leading ceremonies and intensive vision quest dances for more than 30 years. Author of Sun-Moon Dancing: Medicine for Our Time, Rick shares teaching about the healing power of sound rooted in his long-time relationships with elders and wisdom keepers from North America and India.

The session is a fund-raiser for the Little Mesa Peace Chamber and our efforts to conserve and be gently present on sacred land in Abiquiu, New Mexico. Learn more here.

Suggested donation $20, more if you can, less if you can’t. If you feel called, please come even if you are not able to make a donation.
