About us

Welcome to our Split Domain-Driven Design (DDD) Meetup Group. This group is for anyone interested in practicing and mastering the principles of DDD, no prior experience in DDD required, anyone interested in Software Development, Requirements Gathering, Development Process or Software Specification is welcome.

DDD is an approach to software development, a set of techniques and practices to aid the process of defining and building software solutions. It brings together business people (domain experts) and software developers. Working as a one team, they define the model of the domain, and express it as a set of diagrams. The model is developed in such a way that developers can easily implement it, whilst the experts’ knowledge of the business gets translated in to the working software.

Join us to learn, collaborate, and share experiences with like-minded individuals who are passionate about designing and building complex software systems using DDD techniques. Whether you're a beginner or an expert in DDD, this group is perfect for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of DDD and its applications in real-world projects.

Requirements Discovery without Endless Meetings – EventStorming Mini Workshop

    PICS@FESB, R.Boškovića 32, III.kat @FESB, Split, HR

Thanks to Digital Dalmacija for support and providing a space. Note that location has changed from the last meeting, this time we are at FESB, Pics.

Many projects start with documents and meetings, yet misunderstandings still emerge months later.
EventStorming is a simple but powerful workshop technique that helps business and technical people explore a domain together, discover requirements, and build a shared understanding of how a system should work.

But it doesn't stop there. The same workshop also produces a model of the business process that can be used to guide software design and implementation.

Join this interactive one-hour workshop and experience how teams can:
    • Capture requirements visually
    • Explore business processes collaboratively
    • Identify important business events and rules
    • Uncover missing knowledge and assumptions
    • Create a high-level model of a system
    • Lay the foundations for a software design that developers can implement

No technical background is required. Suitable for analysts, product owners, developers, architects, project managers, and domain experts.
Bring your curiosity and be prepared to participate — this is a hands-on workshop, not a presentation.

    About Host
Darko is a software architect and Domain-Driven Design practitioner with over 20 years of experience designing, building, and evolving software systems. He works closely with domain experts and developers to turn messy business problems into clear models with well-defined boundaries.
He has seen many systems struggle not because of technology choices, but because the actual business problem was never properly understood. EventStorming is one of his favourite tools for closing that gap — fast, collaborative, and surprisingly revealing.
Darko holds an MSc in Computer Science from The University of Manchester and has worked with organisations across finance, healthcare, the public sector, and education, including the New York Stock Exchange, Oracle, Pfizer, Oxfam, the University of Manchester, the Open University, La Poste, and Bundesdruckerei.
