· Welcome to the Friday in the Dirt. This is a No-Drop ride and will be on dirt roads and single track with some pavement sections connecting the dirt.
. Friday in the Dirt is not an extreme mountain bike ride, but it will require a mountain bike or a gravel bike with larger tires (50 mm or wider is recommended). The ride leader will be riding a mountain bike. This is not a ride for beginning riders or riders new to riding offroad. Participants should have at least intermediate offroad cycling skills and be able to maintain a steady pace (7 to 10 MPH) in the flat part of the dirt route for a distance of 10 + miles (Slower pacing on hills is expected). Please wear cycling related clothing. E-Bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes are all welcome, but they need to be capable of handling tougher offroad conditions.
· Helmets are required on all SBC rides.

Meet: 7-mile Trailhead Riverside State Park (Discovery Pass Required for Parking). Please help remind everyone to display their pass prior to starting the ride.
Date and time: April 24, 2026. Start time 10:00
Terrain: Mostly offroad with single track and dirt roads. There will be some pavement connecting riders to the trails. Trails have some short sections with some larger rocks, tree roots, and loose surface. There are short steep climbs and downhills.
Distance: Approximately 15 miles
Duration: 2 to 3 hours
Pace: 7- 12 MPH on the flat dirt and pavement sections of the ride.
Description: This is a mostly offroad ride with some longer paved sections connecting riders to the trails. The ride does not require advanced offroad skills, but it is not a ride for beginners. There are sections that will require skills more related to an intermediate mountain bike ride. (Dirt trail surface is more difficult than paved roads and it will fatigue you more and faster than you might experience on the pavement). You will not be able to ride this ride on a standard road bike. Gravel bikes or mountain bikes with tires 50 mm or wider will perform best. You will need to be comfortable riding some distance in dirt/gravel. Riders will need to negotiate sharp single-track turns, large rocks, tree roots, and short steep up-hills and down-hills.
Re-group: This is a non-drop ride. Short frequent re-groups as necessary with a longer stop at the Deep Creek Overlook. area.
