Hiking Dishman Hills Natural Area - Deep Ravine Loop Trail

Less than 2 miles,
200’ elevation change,

rated easy as we hike, stroll, and stop along the way to view and socialize

Meet at Camp Caro, Upper paved parking lot, 625 S Sargent Road, at Meet Up sign.

This natural area is a green oasis within the boundaries of Spokane Valley, and the Deep Ravine loop is a showcase of the valley's geology.

Walk beneath the breezeway at Camp Caro's log cabin and begin to ascend the hill, watching for the new trail segment on the left-hand side. Rarely does a work crew find such outstanding rock, put to good use here in the form of rock steps as one begins a short climb before going down into the ravine.

Summer visitors will feel the temperatures drop and see the vegetation change within the moisture-rich ravine; visitors in all seasons will marvel at the rock outcroppings along the route. The ravine trail rejoins the larger trail system near Goldback Spring where hikers return to Camp Caro.
