Come join us for an evening of drinks and discussion about spiritualism and the question of life after death with a fascinating look at the life of Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Athur Conan Doyle.

Matt WIngett, the author of Conan Doyle and the Mysterious World of Light: 1887-1920, will discuss the Sherlock creator's fascination with spiritualism and the paranormal.

Matt will focus on the development of Conan Doyle's beliefs and his growing appearances in the occult journal Light. He will track Doyle's extraordinary development as a Spiritualist from dilettante to de facto leader of the world movement, meeting many of his opponents and supporters along the way. This talk discusses how the man who created Sherlock Holmes also learned to believe in ghosts, with specific reference to Light magazine.
