Game Description:
Train & Play with Coach : 3-Hour Saturday Session This isn’t just turning up and hitting shuttles. It’s a structured session that builds your game properly, and it’s the start of a 6-week improvement plan. Hour 1.5 : Racket and shuttle training - Coached, hands-on training on the key shots: serves, clears, drops, smashes and net play. We focus on proper technique, not just getting the shuttle over the net. Next 30 minutes: Footwork - Footwork matters as much as your shots. We’ll work on movement, getting into position and recovering, and above all on court coverage, so you’re always ready for the next shot. Final hour: Guided game play - These aren’t random games. You’ll play formats chosen to test what you’ve just learned: Games to 15 points : 1 vs 2 games to push your movement and court coverage Singles and doubles Half-court games to sharpen your control and accuracy The mix of formats teaches you to adapt to any situation on court. Your personal assessment - Throughout the session, I’ll be watching how you play: your serve, clears, smashes, footwork and power. From that, you’ll get a personalised chart for the next 5–6 weeks that sets out what we’ll work on each week. Commit to the six weeks, and you’ll see the results - if can't, then just come learn and play. What to bring: Indoor court shoes, a racket (we can lend you one if needed for £1) and water.
Rules
Before you arrive Please arrive 10 minutes early. We start on time, and the warm-up is compulsory. Wear non-marking indoor court shoes. Players without them can’t go on court. Bring a racket and water. Rackets are available to borrow if needed. Let me know about any injuries or health issues before the session starts. During training (first 2 hours) Follow the coach’s instructions and do the drills as shown, even if they feel basic. Technique comes first. Footwork is part of the session, not an optional extra. Everyone takes part. Stay with your assigned group and court during drills. Please don’t play your own games during training time. During game play (final hour) Games follow the formats the coach sets: games to 15, 1 vs 2, singles, doubles or half-court. This isn’t free play. Use the shots and footwork from that day’s training. Rotate when asked so that everyone gets fair court time. I’ll be watching and assessing during games, so play properly, not just to win. On court Respect other players, the coach and the venue. Call shots honestly. If you’re not sure, replay the point. Wait for the rally on the next court to finish before collecting a shuttle from there. Keep phones off court. The 6-week programme Your personal chart is based on your first-session assessment. You’ll see the best results if you attend consistently and follow the plan. If you can’t make a session, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Safety Stop at once if you feel pain or get injured, and tell the coach
