This weekend, there are sports. You can watch the sports at home alone, or come watch the sports with the crew! The idea is, it’s a social group but just for… watching sports, at a sports bar, with other people who enjoy watching sports.
I’m new to Melbourne myself, am a big fan of American sports, and it’s playoff time, so the idea is to start in the morning to catch any NBA/NHL/MLB action and then continue into the AFL/NRL slate in the evening. Come for the whole thing or just for one event!
Why should you come to the first event?
*You think a social club made to connect over something as simple as watching sports is a cool idea and want to see it continue
- You like sports
- You don’t have a ‘sports crew’, want to expand your crew, or want a new crew
This is just starting up, will continue if people are interested / enjoy it! I think the biggest thing this event has going over some of the other social meetup options is the zero pressure environment. Think about it: at those events, socialising IS the activity. That can be stressful. Here, it’s about watching sports. Zero pressure. If you want to chat and connect, go for it, but you aren’t going to look weird if you’re a bit more reserved. You’ll just look like you’re super into the game.
All are welcome, as long as you are normal or able to act as such for the duration of the event. This doesn’t mean you can’t be a unique, interesting person. I’m just saying, don’t come and be a bad time. That’s the only rule.
These events are going to be run pretty ad-hoc. I think there’s potential here but the level of effort I put in to running it will come down to response, feedback and turnout. If people like it, I’ll go all in. If people aren’t interested, then, that’s a shame! It’s all chill.w
