Luau-Ball - Armstrong Field (between 12th and 13th St in South Side)

The initial plan for this week was going to be back at Flagstaff Hill but with the heat and most likely complete lack of clouds I figured it would be best if we play somewhere we have a chance to be in the shade. So we'll be at Armstrong Field in the South Side again. It actually worked really well last year when we played at this location.

Luau-Ball is my second newest sport and it has evolved quite a bit in its short lifespan so far. It is also the sport that girls joining us for events have loved the most so I hope we get even more girls joining us this year for this sport and a few others.

This is basically basketball on grass with the option to shoot anywhere within a 360 degree circle around the hoop. Different point values are awarded based on distance shooting the ball. We use a 19" yoga ball as the ball. The hoop is 10' high. There isn't any dribbling so you need to rely on teammates and passing to move the ball down the field. Games are typically played to 25 and we've been averaging 3 full games per night.

Don't ever let the numbers on this Meetup page alone prevent you from joining us as there is usually at least 3 times that amount actually attending the event. Parking at this location will not be free so plan on spending a few bucks to park. We'll be playing until at least 8:45 pm so don't stress if you can't get there until a little bit later. Hope to see you there!
