UNIVAC Mainframes were traditionally quite reliable systems; many of the original tenets of operating those big machines still carry over into today’s SRE and DevOps practices.
Making sure our listeners get to enjoy content without interruption is key to our success! But it’s a tricky problem at scale, especially in a distributed and diverse ecosystem.
This talk is about some of the principles we consider regarding reliability and what it means for us at Spotify.
