Fox Run Loop
Details
It looks like being warm and sunny this Thursday, perfect for the Fox Run Loop, a relatively easy hike. The loop is 3.2 miles in total, with a 442 ft. elevation gain, winding through an ancient ponderosa pine forest. It features incomparable Ute prayer trees, some of which are directional, pointing offtrail to living sculptures of acute importance to our indigenous ancestors (see photos, and for a description, see https://www.castlepinesconnection.com/ute-indian-prayer-trees/. The trail map can be found on AllTrails at https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/fox-run-loop-trail, where you can also get directions to the trailhead at 15926 Roller Coaster Road, Colorado Springs. Boots, sunglasses, windbreakers and hats will be needed, and you should plan on bringing water and snacks in a day pack. You may also wish to bring hiking poles and/or microspikes in case there is snow or mud. We will meet at the trailhead parking lot at 10:00 AM, where there are rest rooms; parking may be limited so you may want to arrive early. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
