Mt Herman Trail
Details
Sorry for the late posting, we were waiting to see what the weather forecast would look like, but it looks good for Saturday morning. The Mt Herman Trail, which can be found on https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/mount-herman-trail, is a bspectacular 2.2 mile hike out and back, with a 900 ft elevation gain. The trail is a beautiful backwoods experience, and the peak overlooks Colorado Springs from 9,232 feet. The hike is mostly easy, with moderate difficulty toward the top. Boots, sunglasses, windbreakers and hats will be needed, and you should plan on bringing water and snacks in a day pack. It is advised to bring poles and/or microspikes if you have them, to avoid slippage on descent from the top. We will meet at the trailhead at 9:00; a high-clearance vehicle is best for the gravel road up to the trailhead and it may be best to arrive early because parking at the trailhead is limited. Directions can be found on Google Maps as Mount Herman Trail, Colorado 80921. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
