Tunnel Drive Trail
Details
The Tunnel Drive Trail near Cañon City, which can be found on AllTrails at https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/tunnel-drive-trail, is an easy 4.0 mile hike out and back, with a 305 ft elevation gain that should take no more than 2.5 hours to complete. It’s a well-maintained dirt and gravel road with benches and trash cans along the way that traces the Arkansas River and the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Hikers, bikers, and dogs share the trail. The trail is not shaded, and so sunglasses and hats will be required, along with boots and windbreakers, and you should plan on bringing water and snacks in a day pack. We will meet at the trailhead at 9:00 AM, where there are vault/outhouse-style public restrooms available. It would be wise to arrive a little early to get a parking space. You can find directions on Google Maps at 205 Tunnel Dr, Cañon City, CO 81212. Some members may want to join for coffee at Mugs after the hike ([https://canoncitymugs.com)](https://canoncitymugs.com). Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
