This very popular trail leading up into Pike National Forest alongside two reservoirs can be found at AllTrails at https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/palmer-lake-reservoir-via-la-deux-reservoirs-trail. It is a 4.1-mile out-and-back trail that starts from a parking lot in Palmer Lake that charges $5.00 per vehicle per day. While considered a moderately challenging route mostly because of the rapid the 692 foot elevation gain, the trail is well marked and does not require rock climbing. Boots, sunglasses, windbreakers and hats will be needed, and you should plan on bringing water and snacks in a day pack. Some hikers may wish to bring microspikes and/or poles if you have them, because some parts of the trail have scree and they offer additional stability. We will meet at 9:00 at the parking lot/trailhead at Palmer Lake Reservoir Trailhead, Old Carriage Rd, Palmer Lake, CO 80133, where there is a port-a-potty. Parking may be limited on weekends, so you will want to arrive before 9:00. Dogs are not permitted on this trail, sorry.
