Fox Run Loop is a relatively easy hike, 3.2 miles in total, with a 442 ft. total elevation gain, winding through an ancient ponderosa pine forest. It features incomparable Ute prayer trees, some of which are directional, pointing offtrail to living sculptures of acute importance to our indigenous ancestors (see photos, and for a description of the sculptured trees see https://www.castlepinesconnection.com/ute-indian-prayer-trees/. The trail map can be found on AllTrails at https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/fox-run-loop-trail. Directions to the trailhead may be found on Google Maps with destination 15926 Roller Coaster Road, Colorado Springs. Boots, sunglasses, windbreakers and hats will be needed, and you should plan on bringing water and snacks in a day pack. Some members may wish to bring hiking poles and/or microspikes for scree. We will meet at the trailhead parking lot at 9:00 AM, where there is a rest room; parking may be limited so you may want to arrive early. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
