This is a 3.9 mile loop located in Black Forest with approximately 300 ft elevation gain and is considered easy. Black Forest Section 16 is a square-shaped loop in the Black Forest, north of Colorado Springs. The trail is a fairly wide gravel path with very little elevation change. The area is heavily forested, providing mostly shade during the hike. It is open to non-motorized use and it's popular with horse riders. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. There is a public restroom.

As with our previous hikes, hiking boots are recommended and watch the weather to see if micro spikes may be necessary. The use of trekking poles are optional. Also, please carry sufficient hydration and snacks for the ~1.5-hour hike.
