Black & Blue Trail

Meetup parking is on Tech Center Drive just south of Rockrimmon Blvd and Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.

2.5 mile loop coursing through bluffs and valley in Ute Valley Open Space. The first mile is moderate difficulty along the side of the bluffs and is gently undulating—no major elevation change. But the tread is uneven over sandstone formation. The remaining 1.5 miles is easy with mild descent into the valley then back up to return to parking.
It is a shared trail with bikes. It was not busy on the day we went and we only encountered bikes at a major trail intersection. But we still need to be aware.

The weather forecast looks promising, but be prepared with jacket, gloves, etc based on your need. You may want trekking poles for the first part of the trail. Again, at your discretion. Each participant takes liability for their own safety. Each person’s preparedness ensures a successful hike for all.
