Please join us for our September First Friday meeting featuring photographer Jodi Hersh and enter our digital image competition, "Minimalism" (more info below).

Photography is one of the more technical art forms, but as a designer Jodi Hersh has been trained to break things down to their very essence, a concept that she has carried with her on her photo journey - from making her own pinhole cameras and exploring the art form at its most basic to wielding her digital SLR to capture the extraordinary in the mundane overlooked landscapes of our daily lives. Please join us as Jodi shares her passions and processes for both pinhole and abstract photography.

Jodi Hersh is a multi-talented artist and graphic designer who has developed a successful career based on her childhood passion for making things. As an artist, Jodi loves experimenting and combining old processes with new technology. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design and Photography from the University of Michigan and established her own studio, Orange Star Design, in 1993 where she has worked with clients ranging from solopreneurs to Fortune 500 companies, indie musicians, and even a few rock stars. When not in her studio or out shooting, Jodi usually can be found being walked by her giant dogs.

SPS has three standing meetings each month for its members and guests. The First Friday meeting features an outside speaker and a members’ image competition. While competition entries at these monthly meetings are restricted to currently paid-up members, we ALWAYS welcome visitors interested in photography to attend. The Learnshops (fourth Tuesdays) and Coffee & Critique (second Saturdays) are intended for members, but again, we welcome visitors. If you attend regularly, we ask that you help support the club (which pays for the rental of the facilities, supplies, and equipment) by becoming a member!

Signing up on the SPS Meetup page does not make you an SPS member. SPS members pay dues to engage in many activities that are unavailable to guests who only sign up on the SPS MeetUp.
