Sloss Furnaces is a National Historic Landmark in Birmingham, Alabama. It operated as a pig iron-producing blast furnace from 1882 to 1971. After closing, it became one of the first industrial sites (and the only blast furnace) in the U.S. to be preserved and restored for public use. In 1981, the furnaces were designated a National Historic Landmark by the United States Department of the Interior. For more information on what is available to photograph, check out their website: https://www.slossfurnaces.com.

We'll meet in the parking lot at 10 AM and enter as a group. I'll sign the registration for the group. There isn't a charge to enter but they do request a donation.

Once inside, you can explore with the group or on your own.

**Communication with participants will be through the list generated from the link above and will include information about schedule and plan changes, weather updates, link to the SmugMug site to post your photos, etc. We will not be communicating using RSVPs through the Meetup Site.**
PLEASE READ THE ABOVE AGAIN CAREFULLY.

SPS has three standing meetings each month for its members and guests.
The First Friday Program and Competition features an outside speaker and a members' image competition. While competition entries at these monthly meetings are restricted to currently paid-up members, we ALWAYS welcome visitors interested in photography to attend.
The Learnshops (fourth Tuesdays) and Coffee & Critique (second Saturdays) are intended for members, but again, we welcome visitors.
If you attend regularly, we ask that you help support the club (which pays for the rental of the facilities, supplies, and equipment) by becoming a member!
