Storage Performance and Reliability for SQL Server

Details

Please come to our first ever Hartford SQL Server meetup on Tuesday, January 24th at EMC in Rocky Hill at 7pm!

EMC's Paul Galjan will be giving a presentation on Storage Performance and Reliability for SQL Server.

The session will cover how to architect storage for SQL Server. We’ll go over the basics of storage, how to evaluate and fix performance issues, and how to ensure high availability of the storage infrastructure.

Paul Galjan started his technical career working in and eventually managing a data center that ingested and analyzed geophysical data to detect nuclear weapons tests. From there, he went to a storage reseller, helping the US Marine Corps architect messaging infrastructures appropriate for field combat deployment. He then spent 3 years working with NetApp in the Federal space, first as a systems engineer, then as a consultant specializing in the integration of NetApp and Microsoft technologies.

Nowadays, Paul spends his time talking to existing and prospective EMC customers in the New England area about their storage strategies in the context of their Microsoft applications. As it works out, the focus is commonly on Exchange, SQL, Hyper-V, and increasingly SharePoint, with a healthy splash of Groove and Biztalk.

EMC will provide refreshments and some Iomega gear that we'll be giving away. We will also raffle away a Kindle e-reader at the meetup. Please tell your co-workers and your friends in the SQL Server community!
