Overview
This is a "very beginner" event focused on those who are interested in becoming a data professional in the Microsoft space. Over the course of the day you'll learn SQL Server, PowerBI, Reporting Services, and SSIS (Integration Services) as well as what the various roles and job titles are that use these tools. No experience is required, just an interest in getting started in the world of data.

Because seating is limited we ask that you only register if you are reasonably certain you will attend and that if your plans change, you cancel so that someone else can have a seat in the class.

Schedule
The day will consist of six one hour presentations plus a lunch break.

09:00 - 10:00. Overview of the various roles and tools we'll be discussing throughout the day.
10:15 - 11:15. Introduction to SQL Server. How to download, install, and restore a backup.
11:30 - 12:30. Introduction to TSQL. The basics of writing queries - needed across all the tools.
12:30 - 13:15 Lunch break
13:15 - 14:15. Introduction to SSIS. How to move data from A to B, a core skill to learn!
14:30 - 15:30. Reporting Services. The main tool for creating paginated reports.
15:45 - 16:45. Introduction to PowerBI. The fastest growing reporting tool with a focus on visualization.
16:45 - 17:00. Panel Q&A

Logistics
Parking downtown is about $2/hour and we recommend the garage at 53 W Central, they accept cash and credit cards.
We will have donuts and coffee for breakfast
Lunch will be provided at no cost and we will have a vegetarian option. If you have other dietary needs we recommend you bring lunch with you.
You can bring a laptop, wifi is available, but power is limited. We recommend taking light notes as we'll be sharing a lot of ideas and acronyms (and we'll be giving you a list of resources to visit after the class to continue learning)
