Art Call: Murmuration

A few years ago there was a murmuration of starlings in my neighborhood. It was... unlike anything I'd imagined. The sky was dark for days, and you could hear the wingbeats from inside the house. It was incredible.

We are answering a Call for Art, for birds! Their flying silhouettes will be decorated with everything birds carry for us in our archetypical imaginations: our hopes, our dreams, our freedoms, our resilience, our joys.

The birds we make will be mailed as they are (ie, not in envelopes): in mail art, the art is the mail and the mail is the art. They will fly to France, where they will become part of a traveling exhibit of mail art birds from all over the world.

We'll bring an assortment of cardboard cut-out birds (addressed to France) and some art supplies. Folks can take them home to decorate, too!

Postage We'll figure out the exact postage needed, and we can probably bring some international postage stamps along (I think I have some... )
