Sat Sept 13th
1:30 - 4:30 pm
SEEDS (706 Gilbert St)

If you've ever want to try dying your own yarns, come join us for a messy "garden party" style workshop on Sat Sept 13th.

Participants (limited to 24) will bring their own yarn (wool yarns only; one or two skeins) This event is free, but donations to SEEDS are encouraged.

Part 1: Make-n-take
Environmentally-friendly acid dyes will be provided. Dyes require heat and time, usually simmering in a pot: we'll do an abbreviated process using a microwave. During the "wait" part of the process, everyone is invited to enjoy the gardens and each others' company.

Part 2: Natural Dyes
We'll have a talk/demo with a local expert on historical fiber arts. She'll talk us through the general process for using garden plants to make natural dyes! She'll be available for questions afterward.

Natural dyes definitely involve more time and more specific knowledge, as well as practice. Participants who are ready to give it a try, will pre-purchase a $15-20 kit to take home.
