ABOUT US
Boston Armizare is a HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) group researching and practicing Medieval and Renaissance combat according to the teachings of Fiore de'i Liberi and other Italian masters.
Our students are dedicated to the rigorous study and effective practice of Armizare (The Art of Bearing Arms -- an integrated system of longsword, dagger, grappling, and more). We emphasize the martial efficacy and historical accuracy of our techniques and test our interpretations with speed and intent.
WANT TO JOIN?
No experience is necessary -- new students should take our introductory class first; contact our instructors for more information. We're happy to host visiting scholars from other programs!
ALL ARE WELCOME
Boston Armizare is committed to the inclusion and recognition of all scholars regardless of race, age, culture, ability, ethnicity or nationality, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, religious affiliation, veteran and socioeconomic status. We respect that our membership reflects a variety of perspectives and a wide range of lived experiences. We believe that the affirmation of this diversity is of both intrinsic and instrumental value. Moreover, we believe that making visible diverse contributions leads to richer debates and knowledge in the area of historical fencing and martial arts research and beyond.

Boston Fencing Club, 100 Holton St, Boston, MA, USBoston Armizare is hosting a FREE introductory workshop on the art of Italian longsword for all women, transgender, and nonbinary people, and any gender minorities who feel comfortable in a space centered on women.
If you’ve ever wanted to pick up a sword, this workshop is for you! Join us at Boston Fencing Club in Allston on April 25th from 10am - 12pm to study and train in early Renaissance swordplay through the manuscripts of 14th century fencing master Fiore de’i Liberi. Liberi’s experience as a knight and mercenary informs the longsword techniques we will be practicing at this event.
This two hour workshop, led by multiple gold medal winner Christina Beaulieu, will give you an introduction to these fighting styles. This will include basic stances, attacks, and select maneuvers utilized in battle by knights trained by Fiore himself!
This event is inspired by the international Give a Girl a Sword campaign from Esfinges, a group aimed at increasing gender diversity in Historical European Martial Arts. Learn more about Esfinges at http://esfinges.net/When: Saturday, April 25, 2026, 10am-12pm
