ETHICS & MORALITY
Morality and ethics are often seen as the tools we use to distinguish between “right and wrong” or “good and bad.” For some, these distinctions feel clear and absolute—they know what they believe is right and how people should behave. But is it really that simple? Or is that certainty a bit naive?
In real life, we frequently encounter moral and ethical dilemmas that don’t offer clear answers. These dilemmas often arise from conflicts between values, duties, rights, and obligations. For instance, a person’s sense of authenticity might clash with their responsibilities to others. Personal needs can conflict with the needs of a community, or personal freedom may offend social expectations. One value may demand action, while another demands restraint, for example as in delivering justice versus showing mercy and compassion.
So how do we navigate these tensions?
How do we resolve contradictions between what feels right and what seems required?
Are our ethical frameworks merely inherited—shaped by our upbringing, culture, education, or religion? Or can they be genuinely self-determined? Can we become the true authors of our moral compass?
Let’s explore these questions together. Join the conversation with fellow seekers who value meaningful reflection and open dialogue.
Join us as we explore its impact and discuss how to think independently—together!
