History Talk at St Albans Town Hall- Fakes, Frauds and Forgeries

Details
St Albans Museum and Gallery are putting on a talk about fakes, frauds and forgeries 🎨 (ticket required - see below)
Museums are clear signs that people are always interested in the past, but there are also individuals who use that interest to produce fakes, frauds and forgeries. Often this is simply for monetary gain, but a surprising number of people have produced hoaxes for one upmanship, kudos or simply for fun.
Join Museum Curator David Thorold as he recounts some of the many hoaxes that have been perpetrated over the years, from Piltdown Man to the Cardiff Giant, the Amarna Princess to the Golden statue of Tlazolteotl, with a cast of explorers, academics, antiquarians, archaeologists, film-makers and artists all taking a role, as well as some examples of oddities that have been brought to the museum over the years
