Southern Grounds & Company has arrived in America’s oldest city.
Opening in early January at King and Riberia streets, the 2,820-square-foot coffee shop, complete with an outdoor patio and fireplace, offers gourmet coffees, lattes, teas, flavored kombucha’s and smoothies along with breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, wine, sangria and champagne.
A “100%” remodel transformed the house which was formerly owned by the Catholic Daughters Club of America, the female auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, from a decaying edifice that stood vacant and disheveled for years into the historical charm that’s now perfectly nestled into the couture of St. Augustine's architecture.
Owner and CEO Mark Janasik spent a year remodeling and says, “We're a chef-driven coffee house that believes in ambiance, quality food and a great cup of coffee. We believe in serving as a vibrant community hub where the power of hospitality brings people together.”
