About The Teacher:
Hae Kwang Sunim started training at the age of 18 in Thailand. He has taken full seminary and in temple training in S. Korea, with graduated ordinations (including Bhikkhu ordination) under Patriarch Kun Sunim. He spent over 25 years distilling the I.P.Q.G. deepest and hardest to grasp teachings into a simplified language so it can be taught and effectively applied directly in daily life. In 2005 (2549), the 19th Headquarters in Korea appointed Venerable Hae Kwang Sunim as Director of Bo Kwang Zen Center Palm Springs, U.S.A. In 2013, the Western Bhikkhus Council nominated Hae Kwang Sunim ê”ê”Źì„ Kyo Goo Jahng of all American-European Temples (closest english translation: North American-European Oversight Head / Bishop / Director).
Hae Kwang Sunim drew from the most effective mind-body teachings he acquired from studying under different teachers in the East, including the teachings of Wat Bua Luang in Thailand. Part of the methodology is based on the ancient Eastern principles of Hai Palung (Energy Healing), Mind-Body Healing Qigong, Pon Klie Kwan Sow (Emotional Release), Meditation, Food Based Healing and the importance of compassion, gratitude, oneness, outreach and the need to support the whole person holistically - Body, Mind and Spirit.
Help bring Mind-Body Wellness to the World!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
âI canât recommend Hae Kwang Sunim and his classes/offerings highly enough! I found his work back in like 2011 and it gave me access to a level of calm, of feeling and sensing energy flow through my body, and letting go of layers of accumulated stress that I didnât realize was possible.
I would go to his Sunday AM classes - my church at the time - and leave feeling like I was legit floating back to my car.
The gentle movement, the music, the calming environment and delicious hot tea, it is truly a safe haven in what can feel like a crazy world and for that I am forever grateful!
I even brought an audio recording of one session with me to the Amazon in 2012 so I could go through the practice multiple times weekly and in preparation for the plant medicine ceremonies I sat in over that 5 month period.
If youâre in Brampton or nearby and feel like youâre running out of steam, GO to his classes and fill your cup! Youâll be glad you did.â - Bryan Hardy.
Thank you so much Sunim. Maybe it's because I've been thru various stages of physically and maybe even spiritually keyed from injury, but tonight was absolutely groundbreaking for me. I was hearing you like always, "awareness outside of your hands", open mind breathing was gangbusters for me too. Pls don't think me inappropriate but your voice carries me into a warm and cool cloud-like floating if not a bit of a hypnotic state. When you repeat the next part of the body during the body scan, it's exactly what I seem to need. I follow along without the repeats too but you can make me drop what can feel like dried tar I didn't know was there to such an extent; akin to a cast being removed from a once-broken bone. At one point I was seeing my fascia dropping brick walls away from my ....face? Mind? I dunno. But I felt weightless. Had me sob at one point (not a) and right then you said to release it, let it go. How perfect was THAT. You continue to be among my most favourite of teachers, if not gentlest and wisest Souls to ever be of such important influence. I simply cannot relay just how much. Blessings to you and yours. - Kimi Double-U
I first met you in 2012 and was introduced to Zen and Qigong. Before I moved away in 2019, I think I attended every Qigong class and 'Tea Circle' I could fit in. I so 'enjoyed' it all!!! These Teachings gifted me with insights and tools that changed my life in ways that I never thought possible. During the last two years... because of these tools... I was 'graced' to be able to breathe into the fear and face the cancer diagnosis together with the courage to go through the cancer treatments. Sunim... I have deep appreciation and gratitude for all that you taught me... thank YOU - Patricia â€ïžâđ©čđ
âI hadn't realized how much I have missed Sanga and your words of wisdom until today!!! Ty Sunim|!â

I first started partaking in the classes when I was still working over 10 years ago. I found that the Saturday morning classes were my reset button that allowed me to refresh and be ready for my gruelling week ahead.
When ever I found myself in distress engaging in the classes and applying the learned grounding practises that Sunim teaches became my lifeline to tranquility.
Last year with my cancer diagnosis, I was able to truly test the Qi Gong class practise and tools shared in a big way, and I can confidently say that they not only sustained me but provided me with the comfort and stamina to get through my treatments with calm and ease.
The Qi Gong practise along with Sunimâs compassionate teachings always leave me feeling like I am walking on clouds, and that my body has had a inner cleansing - a restorative generative feeling that no doubt supports my continued healing in this cancer journey that I now find myself in.
I do not know how I would have been able to cope without the classes, without the techniques shared and without Sunimâs compassionate presence.
Sincerely hope that more people will have the opportunity to access to this modality of healing that truly is empowering and life changing.
Please feel free to reach out and happy to share more about my experience with Qi Gong and Sunim.
Warm regards

This is a long oneâŠI saw a flyer on line and it caught my attentionâŠâQigong with Sunim. This practice invites deep body awareness, conscious breath & refined energy sensing.â Hosted by âArt Rocks Healing Yoga & Namasty Cafeâ. I am always keeping an eye open for tools to help me chill out like painting does for me and walks in nature. I find it extremely hard to sit still & quiet my mind and a bit of a skeptic unless trying something myself. Lol Audrey caught my look of skepticism. I didnât think I could be âconfinedâ for 2 hours no breaks no pacingâŠjust practice this âQigongâ. Apparently this was going to chill my nervous system! I am making this post to say it was an incredible experienceâŠwhy? Because I felt quiet in my mind, relaxed in my body, safe & open in my heart and I wanted to tell the other participants âhey wow this is so coolâ but totally not the right time and break others peace! So I went with the flow and just came to a place where my heart wasnât racing to do my wants & to keep up with my brain. Honestly if I can enjoy and chill with this first time practice anyone can!! I highly highly recommend popping into Audreyâs beautiful space and ask her what she feels would support âyourâ well being. We all need to look after number one first so we can be here for our family, friends & community. ps love you Audrey
It was a great "virtual" class today. I felt so relaxed and understood More. I found I was actually tingling all over. I actually read a bit of the information you sent, this time. It helped. Thank you. I will see you on Monday.

Thank you Sunim for another WONDERFUL Silent Retreat. You have a gift for creating a nurturing and nourishing environment. This retreat was filled with an abundance of Peace and Love. GRATITUDE for the nourishing environment, the Love and Peace you created as my awareness grew vast, expanded and my Truth was beautifully revealed. I look forward with great anticipation to all your retreats Sunim and I feel they are âfood for my Soulâ so I will be back again. It was EXCITING to meet in person some of those I have only seen in your Zoom classes and I feel BLESSED to have made some new friends while for those that I knew it was FANTASTIC to see them in person once again and the opportunity to deepen our bond. Thank you, thank you, thank you Sunim. Thereâs nothing like you and Sangha to put a SMILE on my face and in my heart. I look forward to attending the October Silent Retreat. With Love, - Helen E
Hae Kwang does it right! Starts off with d-stressing exercises and then from a somewhat guided to full meditation followed with a talk that nails it for me! Can't believe i didn't have to travel to Asia for this experience. Thank you! - Rick G.
Wanted to share I went to sleep last night and had a nightmare within 20 minutes. I was soooo tired and then remembered to do my Kidney cleanse and fell back asleep without a repeat nightmare. Typically grounding takes hours for me I so am grateful for this tool.
With Gratitude..........

"Amazing retreat! A few things I loved; high vibrational practice with Hae Kwang in person! meeting and talking with Aubrey, honest personal sharing, warm people, delicious food, prepared and offered with love, ethereal music, soft lighting, peace and silence, a magical winter setting, being reminded that the most momentous changes in my life have been preceeded by surrender. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Hi Sunim,
I hope you are staying warm in this winter weather. Just wanted to say thank you for the teachings yesterday. Itâs beautiful how the universe works and provides just what you need. I was really struggling the few days before class. It felt as if I was in an internal tornado but paralyzed at the same time. I went through my tool box/Rolodex of practices but was still struggling to find that space, that space between thoughts. But through the offerings of your teachings and the space created by the community, I was able to add more tools to the tool box and felt guided and supported while doing so. So a heartfelt thank you to you and the community. The knowing that pain/challenges are our greatest professor if we allow it, becomes much more accessible when the light and love from others is shared in support of the journey.
With love and gratitude

A re-energizing silent retreat this weekend and grateful that the words started flowing again. Hae Kwang Sunim in deep gratitude.
âRetreat into Silence
my encounter with silence
is a bridge to self
that reorients me.
the outer silence
drowns out
My inner chaos
Silence the voices
Allows me to retreat
Into stillness
To listen and hear my heart
My only compass to my true self.
mindless chatter evaporates
Mindful presence permeates
My being becomes my guidepost
In persuit of lifeâs unfolding.

Thank you - Sally H.

So thank you for the teachings, the beautiful community you have built and simply for being you.
Sending love and light."

â After attending "Awakening: A Return to Your Original Nature" I can now say that I'm not seeking to become anything! LOL :) All is within and I'm thrilled that Hae Kwang Sunim is sharing his wisdom and aiding in my awakening. The Qigong and meditations alone are worth coming out to any meeting for and the energy work, well itâs just simply amazing! â
â Emily
â This was my first meeting. I was comfortable from the moment I entered the space. I shared the energy healing session of the evening with three wonderfully amazing women. With their kindness and awareness I intrinsically felt the energy that was offered to me. Inner release occurred in a number of ways and levels. I will attend again! Thank you Hae Kwang for your expertise and energy in making this happen in a safe and welcoming environment. â

Hi Sunim...
Thank YOU for sending this updated PDF... it is most helpful knowing that there are other methods / avenues to seek out to improve sleep. The Cancer Treatments I have received are life saving and for that I am most grateful. That said... the side effects from the drugs used also have resulted in chronic fatigue and disturbed sleep patterns... so to have these extra 'tools' to manage this is deeply appreciated.
I experienced a 'whole lot of joy' the other night as I participated in the Wednesday Qigong session... what a great evening!
Thank YOU âïžđ«đ

âI believe Qigong, Meditation, Zen, Energy Work & Healing is a wonderful way of healing oneself and others, becoming one with the Universe and understanding our purpose here. â â Gail on Nov 13,
"Mastering Zen Qigong - Step by Step" was my first introduction to Qigong and it was a great start to this healing art. Welcoming and warm group greatly enhanced the learning. Thank you and looking forward to attending future classes."

â In each of my three meetings with this group I was surprised to realize that I feel immediately part of the group regardless who are the other persons like me - in search of learning and practicing Qigong. I believe that this feeling is shared by all other persons I met in my last three meetings, as it is carefully guided by this Group Leadership team. â

â It is a life saver ;o))) â â Dae Bosal Anna
â Today was my first visit and I truly enjoyed the class. The people there are so nice and welcoming. The moves that Sunim showed were easy to follow. I love the music, Qigong, the meditation, stretching, the experiences were amazing! My favourite part was when we were playing with the energy ball, I could actually felt the magnetic feeling in my hands. Also the part when we used our fingers to pull out bad energies and I could feel the tingling on my legs as I move my fingers up my body, that's awesome! The class is so relaxing, the group discussion in the end was a nice touch, like a story telling, or sharing experiences with each other. I will be back for more. Thank you so much, Sunim, you are a great instructor!â
â Kim
â Went to my first Inner Peace Qigong Meetup and it was great .... positive energy and the Q & A afterwards gives you insight into what you are going wrong and what you can do try and change. â

"I was given a teaching that said on the day of your birth that instead of receiving (although the teaching last night was a gift gratefully received), you give back to all the people, experiences that have helped, are helping you Be You. I thank this Sangha - the good people I am meeting, the practice, the sharing that is expanding, grounding, each of us in our own unique ways to be Our Best Selves. Who knew ( I did not) when I came into this world, that I would be sharing this walk at this time with such genuinely heartfelt, beautiful people . My 'legs', I know, are still wobbly from having fallen (thus the ego voice is still seeking 'contol') but my Heart knows the Way Home. It really does. And isn't that the heartbeat we hear, we feel, when we gather together? So, Thankyou to Everyone for the support, Love we offer one another from within this Sangha and to you Sunim, - I have heard you say a few times that 'we' (the members) create the Sangha . Yet, there would be no Sangha if it weren't for the 'ground' you have created, offering All a Sacred (safe) Space to feel welcome to enter and Just Be and for that I contine to Thank You. Love to All."

Class Benefits Include | Reduced stress level/deepening mind-body connection, improved chi flow, blood pressure, massaging of all organs of the body, reduced anxiety and depression, relieving chronic pain, improved balance and coordination, improved sleep quality (such as staying asleep longer at night and feeling more alert during the day) improved vitality and everyday physical functioning.
UNDERSTANDING Bad Stress Out "Inner Peace" ZEN QIGONG
Health = A Balanced Flow Of Qi
The health of our body is dependent upon a clear, strong, and balanced flow of Chi through the Sen Lines. Since qigong practice accomplishes just this, it should come as no surprise that the benefits of qigong (also spelled âChi Kungâ) practice extend to every physical system of our bodies, as well as to the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our Being.Physical Benefits of Qigong Practice |
Inner Peace Qigong practice makes the body strong and supple. It improves balance, stamina, and flexibility. It has positive effects on the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, and immune and central nervous systems. It tends to create smooth skin and a pleasant feeling of deep warmth within the body. It increases sexual vitality and allows our sleep-time to be more deep and restorative. Over time, qigong practice can reduce or eliminate chronic pain. It also has the power to reverse the aging process and restore youthfulness.Emotional Benefits |
The smooth and balanced flow of Qi created by qigong practice shows itself as a joyful, relaxed, optimistic and energized state of mind. While the emotional energies of anger, fear, anxiety or grief still may arise, they will be much less âstickyâ â and be held and then dissolved within the larger field of joy, gratitude, acceptance and equanimity.Mental & Spiritual Benefits of Qigong |
The abundance of clarified energy and mental stillness generated by this qigong practice supports great mental clarity and nourishes both intuition and creativity. As our intelligence becomes rooted in a connection to the inner body, it widens and deepens in increasingly wonderful ways.
As we deepen in our qigong practice, we become aware of more subtle realms of Being, and begin to experience directly our interconnectedness with All-That-Is.As acclaimed cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, vice-chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University and director of the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New YorkâPresbyterian Hospital writes in his best-selling book âStaying Youngâ: âQigong allows us to cope with the day-to-day struggle of being human â it can help us stretch and stay loose and balanced in both mind and body.â
On the Oprah Winfrey show in November, he simply put it this way, "If you want to be healthy and live to be 100, do Qigong." He also added that Qigong reverses the aging process.Parts of P.K.Z.Q. are modeled off of the Mind-Body Wellness Program taught at the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. The mindfulness-based stress reduction meditation techniques come from Dr. Jongmae Park of Loyola Marymount University.
During P.K.Z.Q., cares and troubles wash away, replacing them with positive images, increased confidence, and peace of mind.
Near the end of each class, the goal is for participants to attain the full ârelaxation response,â and itâs that response that helps release the feel-good endorphins. Why is this important?
Endorphins encourage white blood cells, and white blood cells help the body fight infection and disease. According to Dr. Benson, ârepeated activation of the relaxation response can reverse sustained problems in the body and mend the internal wear and tear brought on by stress.â (Ref: Center for Womenâs Healthcare, Weil Medical College of Cornell University.)
"When the mind is trained, quieted, then room is created for our brightness, our True Self to shine through. The nature of True Self IS loving, witnessing, unmoved in the moving. No positive affirmation can deliver the depth of contentment, of joy that already exists, that comes forward from True Self. The more we connect with it, the more it grows through us. In such an environment, the body has comfort, hurry sickness, and chasing to 'fix' what we 'thought' we were collapses. The nervous system can finally rest - Stillness. From this place, the body will not easily fall prey to disease."

UNDERSTANDING Bad Stress Out "Inner Peace" ZEN QIGONG
Health = A Balanced Flow Of Qigong
The health of our body is dependent upon a clear, strong and balanced flow of Chi through the Sen Lines. Since qigong practice accomplishes just this, it should come as no surprise that the benefits of qigong (also spelled âChi Kungâ) practice extend to every physical system of our bodies, as well as to the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our Being.Physical Benefits of Qigong Practice:
Qigong practice makes the body strong and supple. It improves balance, stamina and flexibility. It has positive effects on the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, and immune and central nervous systems. It tends to create smooth skin, and a pleasant feeling of deep warmth within the body. It increases sexual vitality, and allows our sleep-time to be more deep and restorative. Over time, qigong practice can reduce or eliminate chronic pain. It also has the power to reverse the aging process, and restore youthfulness.Emotional Benefits:
The smooth and balanced flow of Qi created by qigong practice shows itself as a joyful, relaxed, optimistic and energized state of mind. While the emotional energies of anger, fear, anxiety or grief still may arise, they will be much less âstickyâ â and be held and then dissolved within the larger field of joy, gratitude, acceptance and equanimity.Mental & Spiritual Benefits of Qigong:
The abundance of clarified energy and mental stillness generated by qigong practice supports great mental clarity, and nourishes both intuition and creativity. As our intelligence becomes rooted in a connection to the inner body, it widens and deepens in increasingly wonderful ways.As we deepen in our qigong practice, we become aware of more subtle realms of Being, and begin to experience, directly, our interconnectedness with All-That-Is.
As acclaimed cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, vice-chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University and director of the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New YorkâPresbyterian Hospital writes in his best selling book âStaying Youngâ: âQigong allows us to cope with the day to day struggle of being human â it can help us stretch and stay loose and balanced in both mind and body.â On the Oprah Winfrey show in November he simply put it this way, "If you want to be healthy and live to be 100, do Qigong." He also added that Qigong reverses the aging process.
Parts of P.K.Z.Q. are modeled off of the Mind-Body Wellness Program taught at the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. The mindfulness based stress reduction meditation techniques come from Dr. Jongmae Park of Loyola Marymount University. During P.K.Z.Q., cares and troubles wash away. Replacing them are positive images, increased confidence and peace of mind.
Near the end of each class the goal is for participants to attain the full ârelaxation responseâ and itâs that response that helps release the feel good endorphins. Why is this important? Endorphins encourage white blood cells and white blood cells help the body fight infection and disease.
The nature of True Self IS positive, loving, witnessing, unmoved in the moving. No positive affirmation can deliver the depth of contentment, of joy that already exists, that comes forward from True Self. The more we connect with it, the more it grows through us. In such an environment, the body has comfort, hurry sickness and chasing to 'fix' what we 'thought' we were collapses. The nervous system can finally rest - Stillness. From this place, the body will not easily fall prey to disease." - Hae Kwang Sunim

In 2013, the Western Bhikkhus Council nominated Hae Kwang Sunim ê”ê”Źì„ Kyo Goo Jahng of all American-European Temples (closest english translation: North American-European Oversight Head / Bishop / Director).Qigong and Mind-Body Training
Hae Kwang Sunim drew from the most effective mind-body teachings he acquired from studying under different teachers in the East, including the teachings of Wat Bua Luang in Thailand. The methodology is based on the ancient Eastern principles of Hai Palung (Energy Healing), Pon Klie Kwan Sow (Emotional Release), Meditation, Food Based Healing and the importance of compassion, gratitude, oneness, outreach and the need to support the whole person holistically - body, mind and spirit.1 attendee
