St. James Literary Society

Come meetup to hear fascinating speakers on a wide range of subjects that concerns us all: Literature, art, economics, commerce, education, philosophy, sports, science, politics, religion, law, music, medicine, history and travel. The St-James Literary Society was founded in Montreal in 1898 and as such, is one of the oldest learned societies in North America. It is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian, non-political organization that provides a forum for the free exchange of viewpoints amongst its members and the general public. Over the past century The Society has had the honour of being addressed by those who were pre-eminent leaders in their respective areas of expertise. Our motto, Permitte Lucem, i.e. spread the light, has always been understood to extend to those beyond its own membership. We look forward to you joining our mission to increase collective knowledge.
