Edwardsville History Walk + Route 66 museum

Details
NEW event
Will do again: 2031
Cost: Free
Parking: First Baptist Church at 534 St Louis Street.
This is somewhat last minute, but I just saw the flyer. We will start at the small Route 66 museum in Edwardsville at the corner of IL-157 (West Street) and St. Louis Street (620 St Louis Street). We start at the museum (which was the location of my old dentist's office!). The city is having a history walk that starts at the museum. I believe the walk begins shortly after 10am, but we will have time after the walk to see the museum.
From the flyer:
"Take a stroll along historic St. Louis Street to “Meet and Greet” some of its former residents. After a brief introduction, a guide will lead participants to ten St. Louis Street homes where actors portraying former residents of the houses will greet them. The first stop after the West End Service Station will be at Hadley House where Julia Hadley Griffin will talk about the “Marriage Triangle,” consisting of three generations of homes on the same corner, the E. M. West House, the Hadley House, and the Burley-Griffin House. The walk does not include entrance to any of the houses."
About St Louis Street in Edwardsville:
"The St. Louis Street Historic District is a residential historic district located along several blocks of St. Louis Street in Edwardsville, IL.... St. Louis Street was one of the most prestigious sections of Edwardsville in the late 1800s, and several of the city's wealthiest residents owned homes along the street. " wikipedia
The history walk includes costumed actors in front of certain homes on St Louis Street where they will provide information about the original owners of the home. There is no entrance into any of the homes (I'll work on a co-worker whose house is on the route).
