WE WILL MEET IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM NEAR THE BLACK GRANITE MEMORIAL STONE.

Lewis and Clark State Historic Site is having their largest annual event in May called Departure Days. The event is May 9-10 (we'll meet on the 9th) and commemorates the departure of the Lewis & Clark expedition from their first winter quarters. This marks the anniversary of the Departure of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Lewis and Clark re-enactors will be here along with the White Pirogue. Demonstrators will include: blacksmithing, candle making, broom making, coopering, cooking, weaving, carving, and much more. http://www.campdubois.com/index.html

Besides the outdoor exhibits, the museum with several exhibits indoors will be open. http://www.campdubois.com/html/exhibitions.html

As you are headed north on Illinois Route 3, you will likely see signs for SIUE. You turn left on New Poag Road to get to the Lewis & Clark State Historic Site (you turn right on New Poag Road to get to SIUE).

If you have kids and/or grandkids that you think might enjoy this, please feel free to bring them.
