While I'm sure everyone reading this already has a good idea about how to have a secure and private conversation. Particularly if you are already a member of our Signal group chat. (And if you are not, you should join. It's just a really jazzy time being had by all.) And that all works fine when dealing with other security and privacy minded folks.
But what about all our *sigh* less than savvy relatives? Are you going to really be able to convince that one relative to encrypt their text messages while you are over there removing ransomware for the 3rd time this year? What about when you go to a restaurant and now they insist on texting you when your table is ready? Will you continue to debate the issue pointlessly to someone who simply isn't paid enough to care enough?
Or are you going to do the best you can to keep your telecommunications private despite the word around asking for your digits non-stop?
Well that's what Kevin has done. He's done all the research and jumped through all the hoops to determine what you can do to keep your cellular and SMS messages as private as possible. And he's going to share what he's learned with us tonight. Cover the differences between using MVNOs and VoIP, what hardware you can get your hands on that will give you the most bang for your buck.
As per usual, doors will be open at 6:00 at Arch Reactor. Talk starts at 7:00. Arch Reactor has a Zoom account now, so we'll be testing that out for the online stream this time around.

Meanwhile. Here's my favorite Sesame Street clip about telephones. I still laugh to this day at it.
