At Havana 1961, chef-owner Maria Ruhl aims to transport guests to her island birthplace with scratch-made Cuban cuisine, the kind she grew up learning how to cook from generations of elders, including her great-grandparents, who owned their own bar and restaurant on the beach.

The casual eatery is a family affair, run by Ruhl—who dedicates the concept to her late father—and her son and daughter, James Ortiz and Emma Beyer. The trio proudly shares their culinary heritage, serving signatures including a Cuban sandwich, braised oxtail, and 15 flavors of mojitos.
