Virtual Hackathon: Microservices in Azure

Details
Join us on Saturday February 26th as ArchitectNow hosts a virtual Hackathon sponsored by Microsoft called “What the Hack”. During this event participants work in squads of 3 to 5 people to solve a series of technical challenges for a given technology or solution scenario. For our specific Hackathon we are focusing on helping teams learn how to host, operate, and monitor Azure workloads running micro-services. The technologies we will be focusing on include Azure App Services, Container Instances, CosmosDB, and Application Insights.
As part of this Hackathon we will provide an initial introduction and guidance on the high-level tasks and goals to be accomplished. We will not be providing step-by-step labs or detailed instructions. What The Hack is designed to be a collaborative learning experience. Attendees "learn from" and "share with" each other. Without step-by-step instructions given for the challenges, attendees have to "figure it out" together as a team. This results in greater knowledge retention for the attendees. The attendee squads are not alone in solving the challenges. We will provide mentors and coaches to work with each squad to provide guidance for, but not answers to, the challenges. The coaches may also provide lectures and demos to introduce the challenges, as well as review challenge solutions throughout the event.
During the event Microsoft will be providing access to Azure resources and consumption to each team participating for the purposes of working through the challenge.
The entire hackathon will be hosted as a virtual event via Microsoft Teams. Bring your peers to participate as a pre-built team or meet new developers and join up with others to learn and grow together. If you are not interested in working with others then feel free to participate as an individual and work through the challenges on your own.
Connection information to the Hackathon Teams environment will be shared with registered attendees prior to the event.
