Ryan Blue, a Software Engineer who looks after file formats at Cloudera, will visit us from the Bay Area to present at this month's meeting.

In this talk, Ryan will give an overview of the Parquet file format (http://parquet.apache.org/), and about columnar storage in general. He'll then cover some practical use cases and explain what you need to change in your applications to avoid problems and improve performance when using this format.
