Managing the Learning Curve: Apply Data Science To Your Own Career
You are interviewing for a new position and the interviewer asks you: "What will you accomplish in the first week / month / six months with our company?" How do you respond? The first few weeks and months at a new company can be exciting, overwhelming, and stressful as you navigate a new business, new software tools, new coworkers, and, most importantly, new data. You may be handed an existing code base and legacy reporting systems. Maybe company stakeholders have a wishlist full of numerous vaguely described project ideas. Whether you learn about these aspects of your new job during the interview process or during your first few days on the job, we need a process to manage and digest this onslaught of new information and determine where to start. During this month's meetup, we will talk about how to apply data science project management concepts to your first few weeks on the job so you can climb the learning curve, build trust with stakeholders, and deliver valuable results.
