Topic: Working With Research Methods and Performing Statistics in SQL
The presentation will focus on the ways in which T-SQL techniques can be used to conduct exploratory data analysis. Using the FBI’s Law Enforcement Employees dataset, I will show how to perform different techniques to sample data based on research contexts. Next, I will walk through the process of conducting descriptive statistics to gauge “typicality” and “outliers.” Lastly, I will demonstrate how one can perform basic hypothesis testing to better understand the relationships between variables. In conclusion, I will discuss how business intelligence analysts and database administrators can improve data management and modeling by conducting exploratory data analysis on their data.
