The Crawling Chaos One-Shot
Details
A letter arrived three weeks ago from your cousin at Harrowfield.
Curious occurrences. Strange dreams. A discovery in the old family estate that defied explanation. You wrote back.
No reply came. So you went yourself.
About the Game
The Crawling Chaos by Mike Hutchinson inverts the traditional RPG structure: there is only one player character — the Narrator — controlled by a single player speaking always in first person, reacting to a world closing in around them.
You will play as one of the Architects, filling the role of GM collectively, spending points to introduce characters, threats, and incidents that erode the Narrator's grip on sanity and safety.
The story is zero-prep, built entirely at the table, and ends only one way. The only question is how long the Narrator will last, and what they will learn before the end.
This is not a game about heroes. It's a game about curiosity, dread, and the particular doom of people who simply had to know.
About the Table
2-5 players needed for this session. No experience required, no preparation necessary. This is a teaching table. Roles will be explained at the start of play and we'll build the story together from scratch — that's how the game is designed to work.
All players are welcome. This is a LGBTQ+ friendly table.
About the Venue
We'll be playing at Emerald City Comics in the expanded game room. I will arrive shortly before start time and do my best to secure a table.
