SISS, A/B1/B2 at 5:30, B3 at 5:00; longer route for A group
Details
WHAT: Season #14 of our Weekly Tuesday night 18-31 mile road ride. Distance varies based on the sunset time; longest ride is in June/July, the shorter rides are in March and September.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR "A" RIDERS: We're starting something new for this event. The "A" riders will ride a longer route than the other groups. Todd will host this ride, and he has some new guidelines.
- I am hoping to design 4 or 5 Tuesday Night Rides that will have the format described below.
- The rides will be a bit longer: 2 to 3 hours as days get longer.
- Each ride will have a No Drop roll out section. The map shows this section in Green.
- The Yellow sections of the map are Rolling Regroups - a full soft peddle for a designated section.
- There will another Rolling Regroup before the last section of the ride so anyone who has not completely given up should be able to get back on and ride back together. The ride home should be a pace that everyone can stay on.
- The first route is up to County Road 10.
- Any time you see a route name similar to this, you should expect this format.
- The goal is to grow the "A" group a bit and make it hard training ride but not a complete race from start to finish.
"A" Group route: ROUTE FOR "A" RIDERS
The other three groups will use a shorter route. We'll take advantage of the fact that 63rd Street south of Jay is now open again. The last time I looked, however, the path from Jay to Andrus was still closed. If that's the case, just stay on 63rd until you get to the first bend, and then jump on the bike path on the south side of Andrus. I suggest you use the path going up the hill on 63rd south of Lookout -- it's safer than the road. You can stay on the path all the way to Jay if you want.
B1/B2/B3 Group route: B1/B2/B3 route
When congregating in the Bearded Brewer parking lot before the ride, please organize at the southwest corner to avoid blocking car traffic.
We self-organize into four groups at the start of the ride:
GROUP A: This group will be at a faster pace (19+mph average)
GROUP B1: This group will be at a medium/fast pace (17 to 19 mph average)
GROUP B2: Rides in the 15-17 mph range. This a NO-DROP group and we will strive to wait for everyone at particular re-gathering points on the route.
GROUP B3: Rides in the 12-14 mph range, and starts 30 minutes early (at 5:00). Please comment below if you plan to ride in this group so we'll know to look for you.
NOTE ABOUT SAFETY: The time of day this ride takes place is typically during heavier traffic times; our #1 goal is always to keep everyone safe, and to keep the car/bike relationship harmonious. With the large group sizes we often have, please ride single file and within the bike lanes, and do not obstruct traffic.
