Hands-on Functional Programming!

Details
Are you ready to take your functional programming skills to the next level? Join us for an evening of in-depth exploration and learning! 🥳
We have planned a delightful evening full of Functional Programming knowledge, networking, and technical expertise. You’ll have the opportunity to meet our leaders from both our Ecuador & Spain teams along with some talented guest speakers. Come ready to learn how to use type-safe languages to ensure your code's robustness, scalability, and security with us!
Join us on April 20th at 📍DCollab in Tribunal, Madrid (Calle Hortaleza, 108, Piso 5ºD), from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm; you’ll have the opportunity to meet and talk with talented people in tech, enjoy some snacks, and have a good time with our Spanish crew!
What will you learn?
- Diego Balseiro, one of our talented senior developers, will get things started by teaching us how to write pure functions, manage effects like I/O and maintain stateful context in Haskell. Let’s explore Haskell effect systems together! By the end of the workshop, you'll have a solid understanding of effect systems and how to apply them to build production-ready applications in Haskell. 🤓
We’re honored to have two special guests joining us for this event: Angel Herranz and Julio Mariño.
- 💡Get ready to be inspired by Angel's talk on "Functional Programming Languages: They're here!" As the former CTO of Coowry, a UK-based start-up, he has experience using functional programming to tackle complex problems and drive innovation. In his talk, Angel will give us an inside look at how his team leveraged functional programming to improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability while also boosting productivity and reducing bugs 🐛.
- 💡Curious about testing tools in Haskell? Julio Mariño, head of the Babel research group and associate professor at UPM, will walk us through property-based testing and dive into the nitty-gritty of QuickCheck for Haskell, giving you the skills to use generators and state machines to test software that changes continuously. And the best part? Julio will show us how to use formal specifications for testing to make your software easier and better while using FP! 💻 🚀
- Lastly, Fernanda Andrade, a Tech Lead at Stack Builders from our Spanish branch, will explain how to achieve stronger code correctness with Liquid Haskell. She'll provide an overview of Liquid Haskell's capabilities and demonstrate its use in real-world scenarios. 🔎
❗Please note that all talks will be held in English. If you’re outside of Madrid but want to participate, we’ve got you covered! Help us out by filling out this form, and you’ll be able to watch all of the presentations live: https://www.stackbuilders.com/spain-office/
This will be a free event, open to everyone. So tell your friends or anyone who you think might be interested in meeting with other functional programming experts and enthusiasts. It's a great opportunity to expand your network and learn from some of the industry's top professionals!
We look forward to seeing you there! 📣🤙 #letsbuildtogether
